Havana, like Trinidad and Cienfuego, has received funds from UNESCO to restore the magnificent crumbling colonial buildings and the tourist areas are now colourful and safe. However the families living there are being moved out and not being moved back in when work is done; because of the serious transport problems people would prefer to live in unsafe, central buildings than in dismal but sound accommodation further away.
