Greetings from Sandford !! Our fun-filled family weekend at Sandford, near Wareham in Dorset, was great - weather good, caravan far better than expected. Unfortunately the food was dry and old and the service appalling - most of the time it didn't turn up at all - (saves the disappointment I suppose) - never again will I go half board. We stayed on the site most of the weekend but did make a trip to MonkeyWorld which was fabulous - we would have brought all the monkeys home if it wasn't for the fact a lot of them were rescued pets in the first place ! Posted by Picasa

The caravan was lovely - large, comfortable, 2 bathrooms, modern kitchen, and central to everything - the pirate ship, ball park, swimming pool, arcade, entertainment (hmm) and - bingo !! (yes, i'm hooked!) Posted by Picasa

SALSA !!

We went to a comfortable, old-fashioned hotel up on Dartmoor opposite Haytor and the routine went something like this - arrive, eat huge meal, dance for 2 hours (at this point salsa lost all its attraction for Steve), collapse into bed after stiff drink, wake and eat huge breakfast, dance for 3 hours, walk across Dartmoor with packed lunch, eat packed lunch with 2 beers, stagger 1 hour uphill in hot sunshine, dance for 1 hour, eat huge dinner, whirl for another 2 hours, have stiff drink. Somewhere between here and Sunday morning we lost Julie and Lee, Julie because she was throwing up and Lee because he had to remove her from the premises!

The huge breakfast on Sunday morning was followed by 3 hours of dancing and Jon and I were the only ones left from our group with me crippled by the uphill walking and excess dancing and Jon suffering brain trauma from trying to remember the dance patterns.

Agatha Christie stayed at the hotel for 3 weeks in the 1930s, and despite a varied and interesting past the hotel is decked out like a murder mystery weekend in her honour (no suspicious deaths while we were there although Julie was very ill after the dinner and dancing on the Saturday!) Posted by Picasa

So which of us will still be dancing this summer? Many thanks to both Julie and Gill for the photos
