Private enterprise is unusual in a communist country but small businesses sprang up during the 90s when the economy nosedived (larger businesses are minimum 51% state owned and the rest is generally foreign money, especially Spanish). Trinidad is full of artists and we spent a delightful morning browsing round art galleries (we bought the picture in the black frame in the corner)
